How to fix Fallout 4 crashes on Windows 10, Windows 8 and Windows 7

1. Go to My Documents.
2. Go to My Games.
3. Click on Fallout 4.
4. You will be able to see a file titled ‘Fallout4Prefs.ini’ (Keep your eyes on the extension name .ini).
5. Open it in a Notepad (if it’s not in Notepad).
   1. If you can’t open it in notepad, right click on it and click on “Open With”.
   2. From the next drop down menu, choose notepad or “Select a program from the list”.
   3. Choose Notepad.
6. Now you’ll have to make these changes.
   1. bMaximizeWindow=0 (if you see any other number besides ‘0’, change it to ‘0’).
   2. bBorderless=1 (if you see any other number besides ‘1’, change it to ‘1’).
   3. bFull Screen=0 (if you see any other number besides ‘0’, change it to ‘0’).
   4. iSize H=1080 and iSize W=1920 (This is the resolution of your monitor. If your screen has a higher resolution, you can switch to its native resolution).
7. Most issues are resolved by switching your game from Fullscreen to Borderless (this fix was also used by several PC gamers playing Mad Max).

Alternate Method

But we’ve got an alternative for you. Beware: More crashes occur because of cranking up video settings that your system cannot handle.
