Transfer Evernote Notes to Microsoft OneDrive

Evernote is a platform where people can write notes, organize them and even archive them for future use. Just like OneNote, which comes with Microsoft Office, Evernote is quite useful for anything that involves creating notes. This article guides users on how to transfer notes from Evernote to OneDrive.

Solutions

Solution 1: Export Notes to OneDrive

This method is ideal when Evernote notes are used without moving to another platform, but it involves a couple of extra steps as there is no direct bridge between Evernote and OneDrive.

  1. Visit the following website, download and install Evernote:
    https://evernote.com/download/
  2. Open Evernote through the start menu as seen in the following screenshot.
  3. Evernote user interface will look like this. The panel on the left-hand side shows the main notebooks of Evernote besides featuring Tags and Trash. The second panel, which is found in the middle of the window shows Notes from each of the each opened notebooks. Since currently the BLDD notebook is selected, all the notes that constitute it are showing up. The last panel shows the contents of the currently selected note, BLD Note2.

  4. As an example, select the BLDD notebook. Now select Export Notes from the context menu.

  5. Select the Export as a file in ENEX format (.enex) option.
  6. Click Export.
  7. Use the following path to save the file directly inside the OneDrive local directory which, as a result, will be synced with the server. Make sure to type the file name too.
    C:\Users\%username%\OneDrive

  8. Now open OneDrive through the start menu to start syncing the files with the server. Sync process makes sure all the files are transferred to the OneDrive servers from where they can be accessed anytime, anywhere.

Solution 2: Use OneNote

This method is quite ideal while migrating from Evernote to OneNote as it simply converts the format, instead of just transferring data from Evernote to OneDrive.

  1. Download the Evernote to OneNote importer from the following location:
    https://www.onenote.com/import-evernote-to-onenote
  2. Open it by double clicking on its icon.
  3. Select the Evernote notebook to be imported into OneNote.

  4. Sign into your Microsoft account.
  5. Click on Import to initiate the import of the Evernote notebook into the OneNote.
  6. Patiently wait for the transfer process to conclude on it’s own.
  7. Now visit the following URL:
    https://onedrive.live.com/
  8. Locate the Documents folder from the Files section and open it.
  9. Now you will be able to see the recently imported Evernote notebook (as per the following screenshot). Please remember that the notebook will be in the OneNote format as it was converted during the transferring process. So it can only be viewed via OneNote.

  10. The notebooks will look similar to the following screenshot, and you won’t be able to download them. They can only be viewed through the browser or the OneNote application.
