What are System Requirements for Windows 10?

Many PCs that can run Windows 8.1 support Windows 10 as well. However, if you’re not sure whether your computer meets the minimum system requirements to run Windows 10, this information will help you:

Minimum System Requirements

  • CPU: 1 GHz (gigahertz) or more
  • Memory: 1 GB for (32 bit); 2 GB for (64 Bit)
  • Unoccupied disk space: 16 GB
  • Video Card: Compatible with Microsoft DirectX 9
  • Other: Microsoft account to sign-in to your PC; Internet access for activation

Checking your Computer’s System Specifications

  • Method # 1: Right click Computer; select Properties from context menu.
  • Method # 2: Press Windows Key + R, type “msinfo32.exe” and click OK.

Important Instructions

  • An Internet connection is required for Windows activation process.
  • You must have an active Internet connection to download and install applications from the Windows Store.
  • An older model of 64 bit processors may not support the Windows 10 Insider Preview. You may experience compatibility problems.
  • A minimum screen resolution of 1024*768 is required to open Windows Store.
  • Microsoft Cortana —an intelligent personal assistant supports only limited languages. You must select a supported language out of these: English (United States), English (United Kingdom), German (Germany), French (France), Italian and Spanish (Spain).
  • As of now, playing DVD contents with Windows Media Player is not supported in the Windows 10 Developer Preview.
  • The process of installing Windows 10 Developer Preview on a machine running Windows 8 Pro with Media Centre, will remove Media Centre.

Compatibility Issues to Keep in Mind

Some programs that were working fine with previous versions may not work on Windows 10. In such circumstances, follow the procedure given below:

  1. Right click the program icon on Desktop.
  2. Select Properties from context menu.
  3. Click Compatibility tab.
  4. Click the button named “Run compatibility troubleshooter”.

If your display and sound drivers stop working with the latest Windows edition, please contact. You can also obtain latest version from the manufacturer’s website. Go to Downloads section, choose your operating system (Windows 10) and start download procedure.

Alternatively, you may check for new driver releases through Device Manager in Windows 10 operating system.

  1. Click the Start menu.
  2. Click Settings (Places category).
  3. In the new screen that opens, click Devices icon.
  4. Update your Display, Sound devices.
