How to Find Duplicate Music Tracks in USBs/ USB Library Files

Whether music is your biggest passion or you only hear it from time to time, it’s common to download the same song twice without knowing. It can be frustrating to hear the same track repeating in a sitting and have your storage space minimized. But worry not, today’s blog will share a free and effective tool to find and delete duplicate music tracks in your USBs.

Known as Clone File Checker, the advanced software brings the following modes:

  • File Search mode.
  • Music Search mode.
  • iTunes Search mode.

Ahead, we will explain the last two modes.

How Does Clone File Checker Find and Remove Duplicate Songs in Windows?

Removing duplicate music from Windows media player is a breeze due to the super-fast Clone File Checker. The automatic process is a huge time-saver and causes no burden on your computer. Here are the instructions:

  1. Launch the Clone File Checker on your computer.
  2. On the left side of the program, choose Driver Folder, which includes the Windows music player box.
  3. Now, customize the scan settings and select the Music option.
  4. Initiate the scan and wait for it to finish hunting for duplicate songs.
  5. See the results containing identical music.
  6. Review files and play the songs within the software.
  7. Once the identical music is displayed, the next step is the selection of the files.
  8. Users can either permanently delete all identical tracks or move all clone songs to a particular folder.

Here are simple instructions to move your duplicate songs to another folder:

  1. Open the Clone File Checker program.
  2. On the left side, click on the List Box to add drives or folders. The box contains two options at the bottom – Add or Remove.
  3. Click on the Add button.
  4. A list of folders will pop up for you to pick a directory.
  5. Start scanning the identical music.
  6. Choose which version of files you want to keep in each duplicate group.
  7. Click on Oldest
  8. Next, select Move to Folder.
  9. Make a new folder or add in any existing one.

How Does Clone File Checker Find and Remove Duplicate Songs in iTunes Library?

If you only prefer to hear music on iTunes and it is clogged up with identical tracks, follow these steps to get rid of them:

  1. Launch your iTunes account on your Windows computer.
  2. Navigate to the Advanced section of iTunes to set this preference: Share iTunes Library XML with other applications.
  3. Now, open the Clone File Checker software.
  4. Go to iTunes mode by choosing it from the drop-down box.
  5. Once this mode is chosen, surf through the options mentioned in the step 2 box. It includes file content (in case music tags are unavailable), bit rate, title, duration, artist, track, and album. If one or more of these tags are selected, Clone File Checker will compare the chosen tags to search for the similarities among the music tracks. If matched, the software will mark them as identical files and add them to the list.
  6. Not only this, the program also brings two more search filters. Users can also set the minimum and maximum file size range to include in the search. Just specify your preferences in the Ignore files smaller than and Ignore files larger than sections. If you decide to set the size filters, the Sorcim-powered software will completely ignore and won’t scan the files that do not fall in the size range.
  7. Finally, click on the green Search button to initiate the scan. During this process, users will see the real-time files filtered.
  8. Once the scan is done, the bottom yellow strip will display the number of identical songs searched, the groups, and the storage space that can be freed if the duplicate files are removed.
  9. When you are ready to delete the identical files, locate the green Select Duplicate button at the bottom. It will show multiple options:
  • Retain the lowest bit rate file in each group.
  • Retain the newest file in each group.
  • Retain the highest bit rate file in each group.
  • Retain the oldest file in each group.
  • Retain the largest file in each group.
  • Retain the most modified file in each group.
  • Retain the smallest file in each group.
  • Retain the least modified file in each group.

           9. After choosing your desired option, click on the Select Action button to begin the deletion. Users can either permanently delete or move the identical music to another folder.

10.If you wish to permanently delete the identical music files, the next window will show an optional step: Create data backup to avoid data loss. The backup can also be removed later by deleting the corresponding transaction from the History section. Choosing to make a backup will remove the duplicate files and make room in your data drive space.
