iTunes Flawless Installation in Windows 10

If the iTunes installation repeatedly fails with error alert(s) in Windows 10, it might be due to old components left from a previous installation or conflicts with processes running in background. We’ll evaluate every possibility in this workaround.

Reconnect to Internet

iTunes may have failed to download required files from the Internet. Problem communicating data over network connection causes this error. Disconnect your WiFi connection; unplug and replug the device are start Internet connection.

Download Windows Updates

Download and install Windows updates before initiating iTunes setup task. Alternatively, you can visit Windows Update page on the official website to get information about the recommended and optional updates available for your computer. Open Settings page from the Start Menu, and then check for new updates by clicking Update & Security icon.

Download Latest Setup

Make sure the iTunes version you’re attempting to install is not too old. Download a fresh setup from the official website and start the installation.

Troubleshoot Compatibility Options

You may want to rerun the setup in compatibility mode or use the Compatibility Troubleshooting wizard in Windows 10. Specify an earlier version in Compatibility tab under File Properties dialog to run iTunes setup in compatibility mode. Turn Off Antivirus Software

iTunes installation aborts with an error message due to a conflicting process such as your Antivirus software. Disable your Antivirus using system tray icon and re-run the setup again. For other processes, use Processes tab in Task Manager.

Re-run Setup as Admin

Re-run the setup as administrator using right-click menu options. The setup file may have insufficient administrative permissions to process and extract data.

Change Installation Folder Security Settings

The folder you chosen for installation may not have sufficient administrative privileges. Go to the parent directory, use Folder Properties dialog > Security tab, and then provide full read/ write access and save the new changes.

Remove Old Program Traces

The problem may arise due to old components left after an unsuccessful installation or previous installation. Remove all traces of old installation, including C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes and C:\Program Files\iTunes; and Registry entries associated with the program. One important thing: music files downloaded from the iTunes Store are stored in the My Music folder in User’s library. These files are unlikely to be affected unless the default location was changed.

Reinstall Related Apple Software

When you install iTunes, a handful of other Apple apps get installed on your PC. Remove these apps through Programs & Features dialog in the Control Panel, and then reinstall iTunes through its setup. List of these related apps is given below:

Reinstall Microsoft .NET Framework

Microsoft .NET Framework is a required component for iTunes and many other installed applications. The installation files may have been overwritten or corrupted. Uninstall the existing version; download newer version from Microsoft Download Center and install it on your PC.
